Therapy for Black Girls

May 10, 2017

The Therapy for Black Girls Podcast is a weekly conversation with Dr. Joy Harden Bradford, a licensed Psychologist in Atlanta, Georgia, about all things mental health, personal development, and all the small decisions we can make to become the best possible versions of ourselves.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and in honor of this, all of the podcasts this month will focus on relationships! This week's episode focuses on the mother-daughter relationship and some of the factors that lead to it being strained. Our special guest therapist for this episode is Dr. Pamela Thompson, a licensed Psychologist and Life Coach, and the author of Surviving Mama. We discussed some of the cultural pieces that may lead to strained mother-daughter relationships, how to manage these relationships, and when it may be time to put some distance between yourself and mama.
