Therapy for Black Girls

Jul 22, 2020

The Therapy for Black Girls Podcast is a weekly conversation with Dr. Joy Harden Bradford, a Licensed Psychologist in Atlanta, Georgia, about all things mental health, personal development, and all the small decisions we can make to become the best possible version of ourselves.

By now, you’ve likely heard the jokes about gaining the quarantine 15 but what you might not have heard, is why jokes and messages like this can be harmful. So today we’re gonna chat about it. For this conversation I was joined by Dr. Gayle Brooks, Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer for The Renfrew Center. Dr. Brooks and I discussed the link between trauma and eating disorders, why there has been a spike in disordered eating during the pandemic, how to recognize if your relationship with food has become unhealthy, and the role that social media plays in eating disorders.
